Unit for Community Services, Meal Service

We are now looking for a chef for the Skogshagaskolan kitchen.

Meal Service in Västervik Municipality prepares nutritious, sustainable, and delicious meals daily for children and students in the municipality's operations, where service and care are at the center. The meals follow the municipality's guidelines and are based on a holistic view where health, quality, and sustainability are central. We offer varied menus with as little ready-made and semi-finished products as possible and actively work to develop climate-smart meals and sustainable raw material use.

The Skogshagaskolan kitchen prepares lunch for approximately 350 students in elementary school and after-school care and is responsible for breakfast and snack service in the school restaurant.

Your Responsibilities

As a chef with us, you will work with:

Preparation of breakfast, lunch, and snacks according to Västervik Municipality's menu
Raw material-based cooking, focusing on nutritious and sustainable meals according to the municipality's meal policy
Handling and preparation of special diets according to applicable guidelines
Work in the school restaurant, including daily contact with students and staff
Ordering, delivery control, and unpacking of goods
Dishes, cleaning, and hygiene routines
Self-control and work according to HACCP

The work is located at Skogshaga's kitchen, where the working hours are mainly Monday to Friday. During the Christmas and summer holidays, work may occur at another unit, which may also involve weekend work.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for someone with training in the restaurant and food program or equivalent competence deemed equivalent by the employer. We prefer that you have good knowledge of special diets and food hygiene. It is an advantage if you have worked in school kitchens and have practical experience with the entire cooking process.

We value that you have a strong interest in preparing nutritious, sustainable, and varied food and that you work according to Meal Service's ambition to create food that is healthy, climate-smart, and sustainable.

As a person, you are structured, self-driven, have good collaboration skills, and a service-oriented approach, especially in contact with children and students.

We also prefer that you are flexible, responsible, and able to plan your work. You thrive in an environment where quality, child perspective, and development are central parts, and where meals are seen as an important part of the school day. For this position, it is required that you have basic computer skills and that you master the Swedish language in both speech and writing.

Other

A driving license (B) is required. Since the work involves contact with children, you must be able to present a criminal record extract upon receiving a job offer.
